What does your manager see?
Only what you log. An admin sees it for the whole organisation, a department manager for the people in their department and for hours on that department's projects. Anyone who is neither only sees their own entries.
Sees
- Your hours: date, duration, description, client, project and activity
- Your leave and sick days
- The drives you log, with route and distance
- Reports on those entries, including per person
Never sees
- Your timeline: programs, windows, websites, files and commits
- Your AI sessions in Claude Code, Codex or Cursor
- Your meetings from Google or Outlook
- Your location and visits, unless you turn them into a drive or an hour yourself
- Suggestions you didn't save
- Screenshots or keystrokes: Half5 doesn't record them
This is not a setting an admin can change. Your timeline is encrypted with a key that only exists on your devices, so there is nothing on Half5's side to share.
How the boundary works.
- Nobody else can open your timeline
Your timeline is encrypted on your device and only synced between your own devices. The key is not on the server. So a manager, an admin or Half5 cannot open it, not even with extra permissions.
- Nothing becomes an hour without you
A suggestion only becomes an entry when you save it. Only then can your manager see, approve or reject it.
- Integrations get no timeline
Accounting software receives clients, projects and invoices. An AI agent over MCP only reads and logs the hours of the person who connected it. No integration can read your timeline.
- Marketing only with consent
The website works without marketing cookies. Google or Meta measurement only loads once you give consent.

- Encrypted on your device End-to-end, like WhatsApp. The server only stores your timeline encrypted, without the key. Half5 and the providers that process data for us cannot read it.
- Stored in the EEA Server and database run at DigitalOcean in Amsterdam, files and email at AWS in Frankfurt. Which services process anything outside it is listed per service on the subprocessor list.
- You decide what goes in Programs and websites on your exceptions list stay out of your timeline. You also choose how long your timeline is kept.
